How time flies. It has been a year since I posted my first blog on wordpress.com. As many of you know, I have been spilling my random thoughts since September 11, 2001 but it is only one year since I sent my musings out into cyberspace on WordPress. The year has seen 274 separate posts and 233 comments from regular visitors and others who have visited by happenstance. My busiest blog day, traffic wise, was Sunday February 3rd 2008 – the subject was Cambodia, Super Tuesday and Water Boarding . The site-meter on my blog has proved very interesting. The meter counts how many people visit (over 15,000 this year) and where they live (don’t panic – not the exact address, just the City or Country). I am stumped as to how people find my site and am a little unnerved when I see that I am being read by people in the Republic of Iran (I hope they get the humor).
As a result of my WordPress blog, I have been motivated to make animal videos (42 and counting) that I upload to youtube. Those videos have also been visited by over 10,000 people and growing each day.
My cousin Steve Bass, of PC World, gets the ‘tip of the hat’ for directing me to wordpress and convincing me that it was time to put all of my modes of expression in one place. My blogging has been a springboard for some of my friends in starting their own terrific avenues of creativity on WordPress too. Their blogs are called: St Croix-nicity , Carol King, What Can I Say? and Is Today a Zoo Day?
So, thanks for clicking often and commenting on occasion ( I welcome more of the same). And a very Happy Blogiversary to me.
- Speaking of anniversaries, my dog Benny (pictured to the left) and I celebrated our third anniversary last week. Coincidentally, Benny’s dog walker, Rod (C.R. Richer), has written a book called, The Brisk Walk, The Story of a New York City Dog Walker. It is a charming book about a young man, who grows up and learns about life and love from his charges. I am excited for him and thrilled to find that Benny is featured on the back cover and in the dedication. The cover and back cover are featured below. If you are interested in ordering the book it is a great gift for anyone with a dog – or just for yourself.

Your blog is the template for good blogs everywhere. It’s been my news source, my vent source, my animal fix, my dose of humor, AND my inspiration to even consider starting one myself which I would never had done if you hadn’t parked yourself in my kitchen and said ” it’s time you had a blog too”.
My wish for you ( and all of us ) is that this next year brings waaaaaaay fewer rants, and more hope and optimism.
