Movie Review: In Search of Mozart

Alternate Title: Looking for Mr. Good Note

Story: Milos Forman introduced the pop culture world to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 -1791) with his entertaining, Oscar winning, Amadeus in 1984. In Search of Mozart’s goal is to now tell the true story of Mozart through his letters and his astounding music – not the fictionalized account brought successfully to stage and to screen.

Writer, producer and director Phil Grabsky compiles a full history of Mozart’s work in chronological order through the use of talking heads who read his letters, discuss his family and the tenor of the times. We get to see and hear excerpts by musicians, full symphonies, soloists and lovers of Mozart. The heart and soul of this film lies with the performers whose love of his talent is so obvious.

Consider this a crash course in Mozart 101. It is a joy for newcomers and aficionados alike. See it and I am sure you will want to hear more. Read the rest of the review here.
