ibisblog.jpgThis is a BIG developing story.  The House Judiciary Committee formally recommended criminal contempt charges against former White House counsel Harriet Miers and chief of staff Joshua Bolten for their failure to comply with an investigation into the firing of eight US Attorneys. If the full House passes this in August it goes to the Injustice Dept. They have said they will not pursue the charges because the White House has invoked executive privilege. Stay tuned.
–  Two more Repugnants  are reportedly under criminal investigation for alleged corruption linked to an Alaska oil services company. Federal authorities are looking into whether Representative Don Young or Senator Ted Stevens accepted bribes, illegal gratuities or unreported gifts from VECO Corp., an oil field engineering firm in Alaska, the Wall Street Journal wrote, citing unnamed “people close to the case.”  Stay tuned.

–  I would read the news for much less money. In a disclosure that may further portend the movement from news as a public trust to news as a profit engine, a TV Guide study published Tuesday revealed that the top three network news anchors made an estimated $37 million in 2006. The three — CBS’ Evening News’ Katie Couric, NBC’s Today co-anchor Matt Lauer and his fellow co-anchor Meredith Viera — made $15 million, $12 million and $10 million respectively. Read about these excellent readers and others here:
