Monkey See, Monkey Do September 16, 2007

blogzeppy.jpgThere is almost nothing cuter than a baby monkey. Okay, okay – puppies and kittens are cute too. This little guy to the left is named Zeppy and he is almost four months old and lives at the Central Park Zoo with a troop of nine other Japanese Macaques. To see more photos of baby Zeppy look here.

Do you think our behavior is similar to our cousins, the macaques? The complex behavior of primates can be understood using artificially-intelligent computer ‘agents’ that mimic their actions.

Chuck Hagel speaks with Bill Maher about his decision to retire form the Senate, the Repugnants and it seems he leaves the door open for another run, another day. Watch here:

Alan ‘I used to hold your pursestrings’ Greenspan’s new book comes out this week. Guess what? Another retired Washingtonian dumps on Bush and his policies. Too little, too late, I say.

Mr. Greenspan, who calls himself a “lifelong libertarian Republican,” writes that he advised the White House to veto some bills to curb “out-of-control” spending while the Republicans controlled Congress. He says President Bush’s failure to do so “was a major mistake.” Republicans in Congress, he writes, “swapped principle for power. They ended up with neither. They deserved to lose.”

– File his one under ‘HUH?’ Madonna met Israeli President Shimon Peres Saturday during a visit to Israel to attend a conference on Jewish mysticism. Madonna was seen entering the home of the Nobel Peace Prize laureate in Jerusalem after the end of the Jewish New Year at sunset Saturday. Peres gave Madonna a copy of the Old Testament, in the meeting that she requested, Israeli TV reported. The meeting was closed to the press.

Here is baby Zeppy when he was four weeks old. Awwwwwwwwwwwwww.

– If you are not following this story because it seems like a yawner, you should. Ray L. Hunt, Texas billionaire oil tycoon, and long time friend and supporter of Bush has entered into an agreement with Iraq’s semi-autonomous region, Kurdistan. He also he serves on the Bush’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, which gives him access to some of the most exclusive data collected by US spy agencies. What does this mean? It means he thinks there will NEVER be success in iraq and he is betting his money on Kurdistan for those heavily fought over oil profits.

– Obama has Oprah and now Hillary has the backing of retired General Wesley Clark.

– 491 days left in this bogus, thuggish administration.

– Quote of the day from Political Wire:

“You have an unpopular President going onto prime time television, interrupting Americans’ TV programs, to remind them of why they don’t like him.” — A “frustrated Capitol Hill Republican strategist with ties to the G.O.P. leadership,” quoted by Time magazine, on President Bush’s recent address on Iraq.
