I like themes. The goofs and gaffs of the media have been widespread this week and they inspired me to research the ‘F’ word and other stupid utterances by people in the news. NY’s own Sue Simmons, who has been bringing us the Live at Five news on NBC since 1980,  said the ‘F’ word to co-anchor Chuck Scarborough, during an evening promo for the 11PM news. This is New York City. You can hardly leave your building without hearing foul words from people of all walks of life, ages and ethnicities. Cursing is a way of life in the big city and I am pretty sure these words are used everywhere else too. I am so used to hearing the ‘f’ word used as noun, transitive verb, adjective, intransitive verb, a part of a word and then some that most of the time I do not even hear the tirade. It is only a word. Get used to it. It is not going away anytime soon.

Watch a history of the ‘F’ word:

–  Watch as Sue both uses the ‘F’ word and then apologizes for it.

–  Do you think doing the news, weather, sports or some other in front of the camera activity seems stressful? Well apparently so. Here are ten more angry meltdowns for you to enjoy:

–  Sometimes you should just stick to the script. Impromptu remarks can be very dangerous. Mike Huckabee’s ‘dead on arrival’ joke while speaking in front of the always conservative and receptive NRA was shocking to hear. Watch yourself.

–  Remember back in 2004 when Dick ‘the dark force’ Cheney told Pat Leahy to go ‘f’ himself’ on the Senate floor? Charles Krauthammer, of the Washington Post wrote a very funny article addressing this particular incident. Enjoy.

–  If you have not seen the continued fallout from the Bill O’Reilly tape check out this video from the people at barelypolitical.com

–  Check out wikipedia’s history of the ‘F’ word.

–  Some funny political gaffs:

–  Since polar bears are all over the news this week too, check out my video of Ida, one of our two Central Park Zoo polar bears from last May.

–  In the always leave ’em laughing mode: Hank the parrot and his foul mouth:
