breatherV-A-C-A-T-I-O-N time. Time to pack the suntan lotion, leave all the electronics behind and go sit somewhere warm, sunny and restful. The sound of the surf and the smell of the ocean sounds good to me. I am looking forward to laughs with good friends, long walks on the beach, continued post-election jubilation and early happy hours. See you in about ten days. (This is a long post – but I am off line for a week or so).

–  George W. Bush is getting ready for his permanent vacation. Just 69 days left to the end of the Bush term. Hallelujah. Did you ever think that we would make it? It has been a very long slog through this interminable thuggery. Bush is now hovering at about a 24% approval rating. Just who are the folks who think he is doing a good job? Can they all work for the oil companies?

–  Here is an interesting chart of the First 100 Days of all of the Presidents since FDR. Why are the first 100 days so very important? The First 100 days gives the country an idea of what type of leadership we can expect and what the priorities of the President will be. Stay tuned.

–  I love Nate Silver (in a Mrs. Robinson sort of way). I obsessively clicked on his fivethirtyeight.com many times a day prior to the election on November 4th and I am still clicking to see what he has to say. He is a hot commodity now. Read this terrific article from yesterday’s NY times.

–  Joe Lieberman: From Mensch to Schlimazel in Just Eight Years. I think he is toast and should be sent out on an ice floe. Watch what Rachel Maddow has to say about Joe the Shmoe with Steve Clemons:

–  Four more years – of Keith. Keith Olbermann has locked in a new four year deal with MSNBC. Whither thou goest. This is one of the many reasons I am happy about Keith’s new deal:

–  Anyone out there want to help this thug pack his bags? He’s leavin’ on a jet plane….

–  The ‘f’ word is back in the news.  This time it is big mouth Joe Scarborough doing the deed.

–  Who’s in charge? Watch some of the Repugnants ‘splain what’s going on:

–  The Mormons are continuing their despicable practice of Baptizing people posthumously. “Using genealogy records, the church also baptizes people who have died from all over the world and from different religions. Mormons stand in as proxies for the person being baptized and immerse themselves in a baptismal pool. Only the Jews have an agreement with the church limiting who can be baptized, though the agreement covers only Holocaust victims, not all Jewish people. Jews are particularly offended by baptisms of Holocaust victims because they were murdered specifically because of their religion.”

–  We will miss Miriam Makeba or ‘Mama Africa’, the South African singer who wooed the world with her sultry voice, has died at the age of 76, leaving a great legacy behind.

–  It’s a new day – hooray: See you in about 10 days. Enjoy.

A very fitting post. We here at the glruria inn, wait with potables, and parables and pets.
