porcupine1So the auto industry has been put on ventilation at least until March. I am still not sure why we are so strict with the blue collar guys and so loose with the white collar guys. Yes, I know the obvious class differences and the fact that few of us really know anyone who works in the auto industry but everyone knows their broker – still. More people lost their jobs last month, the still President Bush is trying to rewrite his legacy and all of us are counting the days until January 20th, when the sun will still rise in the east, but it will just be a bit brighter.

–  For those that enjoyed the Benny & Me video from yesterday (and there were quite a few) the folks that created the project now have a cool video showing how they installed the four day project. Click on ‘Installation’ once you get to the site.

–  One of the thing that has driven me the most crazy these past years is the illegal detention and rendition of ‘enemy combatants’ by this bunch of thugs, war criminals and murderers. Well now, finally, something might be done about it via our shaky court sysytem. Watch Rachel Maddow discuss this with Constitutional lawyer, Jonathan Turley.

–  The much maligned, Sarah Palin target, Bill Ayers, finally has an opportunity to speak out and does so in a piece in the New York Times. Well worth you time to read.

–  Here’s a 10 minute clip from last night’s Rachel Maddow show. Barney Frank comments about the auto industry bailout. ‘We have only one President at a time’, Obama said, but Barney Frank said ‘I am afraid that overstates the number of Presidents we have’.

–  If you missed the funny or die video about Prop 8 here it is.

–  Gail Collins writes about The Senate, Snowe and Dinkytown in today’s Times. “One woman at a Sarah Palin rally told The Times’s Robbie Brown that she was terrified that Obama was “going to push a socialist agenda” but that she was sure “Saxby Chambliss can stop him.” Now Chambliss has been a senator for six years, and his greatest achievement was getting ranked the 33rd best golfer in Washington by Golf Digest. It is highly unlikely that he could stop the president from doing anything beyond making a putt.

– Watch Jon Stewart chat with John Hodgeman on ‘the end of comedy’ now that Bush is leaving office. Very funny.

– And just because Stephen Colbert cracks me up:
