stump2It has become a fun ritual every year. We go to the Westminster Dog Show at Madison Square Garden for two days of fur, a bit of silliness and lots of laughs. 2500 dogs, 171 breeds and all of them champions, as far as we were concerned. But there can be only one winner and last night saw ‘Stump.’ a 10 year old Sussex Spaniel steal the judge’s hearts and the big prize. Woof to Stump (and to all of the other fabulous dogs). You can check out all of the action on the Westminster website. There were so many great faces to shoot I ended up making two photo montages and still had to cut many out. My apologies to all of the champions. For some fabulous faces look here and here.

–  Oh, Mr Obama – You are in my dog house. why are you torturing us? Waffling on this ‘we must move forward’ thing is a very bad idea when it comes to harboring war criminals inside our borders. A ‘truth’ commission, as proposed by the well meaning Mr. Leahy, is a big whitewash. We know what happened? We do not need years and years of scratching our heads, hoping the public forgets that our Constitution was thrown out the window by the Thugs in charge for eigth long, torturous years. Let’s get some indictments and go directly to court. One instance of ‘moving forwrd occurred just yesterday.  The alleged transport and torture of Bush’ rendition and torture program was brought back to court in San Francisco. It is not a complicated issue and it seems as if the Obama administration is using the state secret bullshit case to continue this misguided stance. The New York Times comes out loudly and forcefully against what the Obama administration pulled out of a hat yesterday in a segment called ‘Continuity of the Wrong Kind‘. “The Obama administration failed — miserably — the first test of its commitment to ditching the extravagant legal claims used by the Bush administration to try to impose blanket secrecy on anti-terrorism policies and avoid accountability for serial abuses of the law.”

–  Rachel Maddow interviews Ben Wizner, a staff attorney with the ACLU, about five “terrorism suspects” who have not yet had their case heard in court.

– Tomorrow is Charles Darwin’s 200th birthday. He is definite proof of survival of the fittest. Happy birthday Mr. Darwin.

–  Jonathan Turley talks to Keith about why he doesn’t like the idea of the Congress having a Truth Commission instead of war crimes trials.

–  President Obama will keep on Patrick Fitzgerald, the U.S. attorney for Chicago,  bucking the convention of replacing all 93 U.S. attorneys. What do I think? I am still pissed at him over what he did (almost nothing) in the Valerie Plame case.

–  So much going on each and every day: February 10, 2009: The Day in 100 Seconds

– In very stupid stories: The artist, Shepard Fairey, who created a famous image of Barack Obama before he became president sued The Associated Press on Monday, asking a judge to find that his use of an AP photo in creating the poster did not violate copyright law. Here is an AP video about this subject. I think the AP should back off.

–  Keith had an Apology Hall of Fame segment last night – funny (and sad) stuff.
